Here is a simple photo session with a simple background and a few different layers of clothing to create some different ‘Looks’. The main emphasis as explained in the layout opening is to not use a lot of light and really concentrate on how the light interacts with the individual.

PORTRAIT | BRIDAL – Adding some fun to your bridal portraits

Its getting warmer outside and that means more opportunity to take photos outside. These series of bridal portraits are a fun way to add something different to any wedding package. It can be scheduled on the same day or another day, although I highly recommend taking them on another day. The images were taking at Sunnyside Beach in Toronto. I have added a bunch of different filters to the final images to provide a sense of what can be done instead of just B&W or colour.

PRODUCT – Hiyoko treats from Japan

Hiyoko are bird shaped cream stuffed pastry that can be bought in department store food sections like Takashimaya as ‘omiyage’ which is a treat in the form of rice crackers, cakes or candy before a person returns home from abroad to give to family, friends or co-workers. The following are some product shots of some hiyoko that I brought home. It was very tempting to not eat the subjects before I was done my work. The last one titled ‘食べちゃった’ is translated as ‘All done. or All finished.’ but in a regretful sort of tone, which alas is true.

Seeing the world through a different perspective is something I try to do with photography. We see many things every day but do we really see things? What about up close? These photos were taken with my sweet Canon 100m 2.8L macro lense. These items are going to be included in my new portfolio for macro photography. These plants were taken at Edward Garden in Toronto. See if you can recognize them. I put them through some filters to give it the additional ‘punch’ and alien quality.

The final product. The last chance to make a lasting impression. I decided that to hand over souvenir dvds and prints without presenting them in a suitable fashion would seem unfinished. To correct this deficiency, I figured it would be more fitting to add some elegance to it before giving it to Ai and Anthony. I think it turned out alright. Hope they like it. : )

WEDDING – Ai & Anthony Wedding at the Princess of Wales Hotel and Niagara-on-the-Lake

Congratulations to Ai & Anthony who tied the knot this past December 2011 at the Princess of Wales Hotel in Niagara-On-The-Lake. It was a small intimate ceremony for family. A bigger congratulations goes to Ai for braving the cold winter day in her wedding gown and small faux fur wrap to take photos around Niagara-On-The-Lake. The vehicle of choice was a horse drawn carriage with a warm blanket to carry the wedding couple to some great destinations for taking photos. In 2009, Ai had her portrait done in her Halloween Pirates costume so I was happy to hear that they had choosen me to take their wedding photos.

PORTRAIT | GLAMOUR – Bikini

Inspired by many sources including Playboy, Maxim, and FHM, I had always wanted to put together a set of photos of a bikini model that would compliment their style of lighting, location, and composition. I hope I have come close to their style. The two locations were an industrial elevator and just a black canvas backdrop. The industrial elevator that I used in my set was lit up to give me the gritty details for my backdrop. The black backdrop and silver bikini really let me concentrate more on form as lighting was reduced to just one softbox. It was a joy to work with Jennifer Nguyen in helping me to create this set. She was great and made it look so easy!
